About Us

St. John’s Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  The ELCA is currently comprised of some 3.7 million baptized members in 9,261 congregations throughout the United States and her territories.  Our current Presiding Bishop is Rev. Elizabeth Eaton.

St. John's is part of the Central/Southern Illinois Synod of the ELCA.  Our current Synodical Bishop is the Rev. Dr. S. John Roth.

St. John's was chartered in 1891.
